Scholarship Fund

Offers you the opportunity to assist students in their educational endeavors. A minimum of $10,000 is advised as a fund investment level to generate enough income for yearly scholarship distributions. We take care of all the details as they relate to marketing the scholarship opportunities and paying the grants. We utilize the scholarship committees of designated schools to determine the grant awards, such as the Hastings Education Enrichment Foundation and the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation.

Gross Family Fund Established 12/13/2006

This fund provides funding to improve the quality of education in Barry County. All grants will be consistent with the purposes and guidelines of the Barry Community Foundation’s general grant making policies.

Kensinger & Alice Jones Write Away Scholarship  Established 12/09/03

The “Write Away” competition is for High School Students in Barry County interested in careers as writers. Cash awards are made for the best short stories, poems and articles submitted through their local English department and evaluated by an independent panel of judges.

Mom's Scholarship in memory of Virginia Hoover Harrison Root TAEF  Established 11/7/2000

A minimum $500 renewable scholarship for a mother helping her family by pursuing a vocational/technical or college degree. Administrated by the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation.

Ethel Denton Groos Scholarship of the Thornapple Arts Council Established 6/15/2001

Ethel’s daughters established this fund to honor their mother’s devotion, skill and passion by assisting others in realizing their capacity through the arts. This fund will provide a $1,000.00 scholarship to a student attending a Western Michigan University fine arts program.

A donor-advised non-endowed fund to support scholarships for the promotion of sports programs and education for the Thornapple Kellogg School District

Donald & Catherine Williamson Visual & Performing Arts Scholarship Established 12/23/2003

This fund, whose advisors are Donald and Catherine Williamson and, following their deaths, Melinda Cutlip, Donald G. Williamson, Stacia Willshire and Kenneth Williamson, was created for the purpose of supporting young people in the study of visual and performing arts. Administered By the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation.

Eric Lee Reyff Memorial Fund Established 6/18/2004

To support the summer activities of learning disabled students of the Barry Intermediate School District or the Thornapple Kellogg School District. Administered By the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation.

Jessica Coe Memorial Fund TAEF Established 11/30/1997

This scholarship is administered by the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation and surviving family members.

JK Simpson Scholarship Fund TAEF Established 11/17/1999

This scholarship is awarded to graduates of the Thornapple-Kellogg School District who seek educational opportunities beyond high school at Western Michigan University in nursing (medical sciences to be accepted if no nursing students apply).

Middleville Women's Club Scholarship Fund -TAEF
Established 7/28/1999

This $400 scholarship is awarded to Thornapple-Kellogg graduates pursuing two- to four-year degrees, to be administered every other year, unless otherwise determined by the advisory committee.

Millicent Knox Teacher Scholarship Fund -TAEF Established 11/30/1997

Provides a scholarship to provide assistance to others with the dream of pursuing a career in education.

Robertson Family Scholarship  Established 4/13/2005

Provides a scholarship for an alumnus of Thornapple-Kellogg Schools. Administrated by the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation.

Rodney Schad Memorial Scholarship for Industrial Arts -  TAEF Established 11/30/1997

Provides a scholarship for an industrial student who plans to continue his/her education in technical fields such as CAD/CAM, drafting, engineering or other industrial arts.

Thomas R. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship Established 3/31/2000

This scholarship is awarded to a Thornapple Kellogg graduating senior athlete who excels both in the classroom and on the TKHS tennis team. Administrated by the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation.

Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation Fund Established 11/30/1997

This fund will be used for the support of the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation for charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes for and in the Thornapple Area.

Delton Area Education Fund Established 8/3/2003

To support the educational activities of the students and teachers of the Delton Kellogg Area School District comprised of the Darling Memorial Scholarship, Whiteledge Memorial Scholarship, Niebauers Memorial Scholarship and the Employee Scholarship Fund.

Delton Kellogg Trades/Vocational/Community College Scholarship Established 10/9/2006

This fund will assist any child who graduates from Delton Kellogg Schools and has been accepted to any trade or vocational school or community college. The amount of the award will depend on the number of students who apply and the amount of available money.

Frank Conor Memorial Reaching for the Future Scholarship Established 4/11/2006

This scholarship will be awarded to a Delton Kellogg Alternative High School graduating senior who plans to pursue a career path requiring college or a vocational/technical course of study or equipment/tools required to complete such training. download citzenship report

George and Doris Leonard Scholarship Fund Established 4/16/1999

This fund shall be used for the support of the George and Doris Leonard scholarships, and/or related educational purposes as set forth in attachment A in the Foundation Agreement, for students of Delton area schools and reviewed by Delton Kellogg Schools’ scholarship committee.

The Gladys Carol Williams Scholarship for Academic Excellence Fund Established 8/3/2003

An annual scholarship for students of Delton Area Schools and reviewed by the Delton Kellogg Schools’ scholarship committee.

The Hofmeister Scholarship Fund Established 8/3/2003

This fund was established to assist with the tuition of a music camp each year, as selected by the music faculty of the Delton Kellogg Schools.

The John F. and Gladys M. Chamberlain Scholarship Fund Established 8/3/2003

An annual scholarship with preference given to students pursuing degrees in math, education, music or history, not limited to a graduating senior, but must be alumni of the Delton Kellogg School system.

C. Arthur Schoessel Memorial Fund Established 12/8/1997

This annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF board of directors.

Carl and Loretta Schoessel Scholarship Fund  Established 12/9/2003

This is an annual scholarship given to one male and one female graduating senior from Hastings High School. This scholarship requires each recipient to demonstrate good citizenship and leadership skills within the community as well as the classroom. The scholarship recipient is determined by the Hastings High School faculty and staff, and then approved by HEEF board of directors.

Gladys P. Cairns Memorial Fund Established 12/8/1997

This annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF board of directors.

Hastings Area Rotary Scholarship Fund Established 12/8/1997

This annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF board of directors.

Hastings Education Enrichment Foundation Fund Established 12/8/1997

This fund shall be used exclusively to supplement and enrich the education programs of the Hastings Area School System and/or its members, as determined from time to time by an advisory committee and approved by the foundation.

Helen Mott Fund Established  12/8/1997

This annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF board of directors.

Howard & Leona Van Delic Fund Established 12/8/1997

This annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF board of directors.

Mabel H. Foote Scholarship Fund Established 4/15/1999

This fund shall be used for support of the Mabel H. Foote scholarships and/or related educational purposes.

Paul & Rosellen Siegel Memorial Fund Established 12/8/1997

This annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF board of directors.

Robert Casey Memorial Scholarship Fund  Established 12/8/1997

The annual scholarship for a Hastings area graduating senior shall be determined by the HEEF Board of Directors.

Ruth Tangerstrom Memorial Scholarship Fund  Established 12/23/2002

This fund will provide a scholarship for a student pursing a career in elementary education.

GFWC Hastings Women’s Club “Jumpstart Your Future” Scholarship Fund Established 10/17/2005

This scholarship program was established for the purpose of awarding a scholarship to a needy and deserving female student graduating from Hastings High School, who is pursuing further education at an accredited vocational/technical school, community college, or university.

Mary Youngs Athletic and Music Memorial Scholarship Established 11/20/2006

This fund provides a $1,000.00 monetary award for a Hastings High School graduate who successfully participated in four years of music and sports. One award will be distributed per year.

Maple Valley Science/Athletic Scholarship Fund Established 11/15/2006

This fund shall provide scholarships to Maple Valley students who have completed at least one varsity sport and are seeking a degree in a science field. The scholarship will be for one year only and will be at least $1,000.00.

Jane E. Williston Memorial Scholarship Fund Established 5/19/2006

The fund shall be used for support of the Jane E. Williston Memorial Scholarship for Barry County Residents pursuing a degree as a Registered Nurse.

Lindsay Hutt Memorial Scholarship Fund  Established 9/13/2004

This fund was established to support scholarships in memory of Lindsay Hutt.

Marshall J. Seger Scholarship Fund Established 4/26/2007

This fund provides a scholarship for Barry County students seeking further education who are in need of financial assistance.

Thornapple Garden Club Scholarship Fund Established 4/26/2007

This fund shall be used for the support of the Thornapple Garden Club Scholarship Fund and/or related educational purposes as approved from time to time by the Barry Community Foundation.

Viking Group Scholarship Fund Established 3/13/2007

This shall be used to support the Viking Group Scholarships (The Emil Tyden Scholarship for Barry County students and the competitive Viking Group scholarship for up to three children of Viking Employees, whose plant/organization is outside of Michigan) and/or related educational purposes as determined from time to time by the Barry Community Foundation.
