What is the 400 Club?
The 400 Club is an organization within the Barry Community Foundation for those donors who annually contribute $400 or more to the foundation’s permanent funds. The State of Michigan provides a tax credit incentive to encourage donors to contribute to their community foundations. This incentive enables donors to receive 50% of their donations as a tax credit, up to $100 per person or $200 per couple. This means that the expenditure for a couple that donates $400 to a Michigan community foundation may be as low as $129, depending on their federal tax rate. To honor and acknowledge these donors, the Barry Community Foundation annually sponsors a “400 Club” dinner, during which recent grant recipients present updates on their projects. Funds generated from the 400 Club will continue to benefit our community “FOR EVER.”
