This scholarship was created to honor Mary Trepp Gilligan, the wife of George Gilligan, for nearly 65 years. This is a testament to the enduring legacy of Mary Trepp Gilligan, a beacon of dedication and excellence in education and service. Her unwavering commitment to her studies, as reflected in her years as an honor student, inspires aspiring nurses. By blazing a trail from Thornapple Kellogg School to being the first student from TK to attend the University of Michigan Nursing School, Mary encapsulated the spirit of perseverance and achievement. Her passion for nursing illuminated a path for many, showcasing the transformative power of compassionate care.
