Travis Wenger, son of Phil and Becky Wenger and older brother to Tyler, was born on July 21, 1982. Travis was raised on the family farm in Middleville and attended Thornapple Kellogg Schools throughout his school career, graduating in June of 2001. He was a four-year member of the T.K.H.S. football program and an active 4-H member, showing steers and completing several community service projects. Travis was pursuing a career in Landscape Design at the time of his accidental death. He lived life to the fullest, loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed helping others. The purpose of this scholarship is to honor Travis’ memory and to continue helping others on his behalf.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Student must be a graduating senior of Thornapple Kellogg Schools.
- Student must be accepted at an accredited college or university or vocational program.
- Pursuing a degree in Agriculture such as:
- Agronomy – the science and technology producing and using plants for food, fuel, fiber, and land reclamation (a.k.a. crop production and research).
- Horticulture
- Animal Production
- Aquaculture
- Agriculture Mechanics
- Forestry and Natural Resources
- Soil Science
- Agri-science and Biotechnology
- Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
or Landscape Design
- Student must provide three letters of recommendation from adults in the following roles: 4-H leader, teacher, coach, employer, pastor, neighbor, athletic director, etc. Letter MAY NOT be from an immediate family member.
- Student must be a member of a TKHS athletic program for a minimum of one year.
